DRIVING SIMULATOR DESIGN
The new cockpit of the "NRW Car 2030".
A small, urban electric car for the changing social and technical framework in 2030
In order to be able to examine and test your requirements as a future user of a purely battery-powered small vehicle, PROJEKTER INDUSTRIAL DESIGN was commissioned with the conception of a driving simulator in cooperation with the Chair of Mechatronics at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

This included the adaptation of all components of the new cockpit paneling to the body and the production-ready design and manufacture of the individual parts using the selective laser sintering process (SLS).
We mastered the ergonomic challenges of the vehicle interior through the optimally coordinated accessibility of the individual elements of the user interface.
In the coming decades, traffic and mobility will continue to be switched to sustainable energy sources and various forms of individual transport and local public transport will be networked.
Electromobility, autonomous driving and car sharing will play an important role here.
This reduces environmental pollution, relieves our road and motorway network and minimizes the harmful consequences of individual transport processes.
Six linear motors that simulate vehicle movements, a 5.1 sound system for the output of interior and exterior noises such as road noise or oncoming traffic and a radially arranged screen with an all-round view convey a realistic driving experience.
In this way, individually controlled as well as automated and piloted driving can be tested and the potential of communication between vehicles and the infrastructure in the virtual urban environment of 2030 can be tested.
