LETTMANN KAYAKS
Experience and passion meet high-tech
Since 2013, we have been responsible for the digital implementation and the upper ship design of various whitewater kayaks for the traditional German brand Lettmann from Moers.
The Lettmann company has stood for progress and innovation on the kayak market since 1965. The development ran for almost 50 years on a purely manual basis. The ideas and shapes were worked out from block goods with a high level of craftsmanship, molded and further developed. The method allows a very direct relationship to the product, but requires enormous experience, manual skills - and a lot of time.

THE CHALLENGE
The manufacturing processes at Lettmann essentially include PE rotating, PE thermoforming and vacuum infusion and prepreg lamination.
With the transition of the company into the next generation, the step into the digital age became necessary in order to meet the expanded requirements for formal details and CNC-aided mold tool manufacture.

HOW CRAFTSMANSHIP AND CAD DESIGN GO HAND IN HAND
PROJEKTER INDUSTRIAL DESIGN entered the development in 2013 with its know-how in the areas of laminating technology, mold making, 3D scanning and CAD systems. The new models are now being successively implemented digitally and further developed and designed using modern parametric processes.
The processing by PROJEKTER INDUSTRIAL DESIGN includes the design of the non-hydrodynamically relevant areas and the generation of 3D data in close cooperation with Lettmann, the conversion of the data into a production tool and the corresponding communication with the toolmakers.
